The problem with any relationship is that if the two people in the relationship are not spiritually equal; the yoking of the two is an unequal one, the relationship will fail. This spiritual imbalance is not readily apparent in this world where people are not taught to think in spiritual terms. They think that their problems are monetary, or intellectual, or physical. But if the two were on the same spiritual plane, the same spiritual level these issues would not be big enough to cause the relationship to fail.
The ultimate purpose of all creation is for God to reproduce His own Kind, beget for Himself, first of all children, then adults with whom He can have a mature relationship. This is the only way for God to derive true pleasure from His creation, by having a mature relationship with his creatures. In order for that to happen, He would have to create beings that were his spiritual equals. They who are born of the Word of God have to grow up to be God, to be His Kind.not of corruptible, but of incorruptible, by the word of Godwhich liveth and abideth for ever.
