The principle of SENTIENCE is never discussed in mainstream Christianity although it is much debated in scientific circles as relating to the concept of Artificial Intelligence. In the Matrix movies the machines were supposedly ‘Sentient’. This was a major flaw in that series for they never explained how the machines became sentient, became conscious, feeling, emotional entities without having experienced any pain. Sentience is not merely intelligence, so Artificial Intelligence does not necessarily imply sentience.


SENTIENCE means to be conscious, to be aware, to be cognizant of one’s own existence, it also means to be a sensory being with feelings and emotions. Sentience is a product of experience, particularly that of pain without which one can only be a robot no matter how much intelligence one has.



The Soul is our consciousness, it gives us the knowledge of things we are cognizant of, things we are aware of, gives us the knowledge of our own existence. It also feels and emotes, both positive and negative emotions, love and hate.
The Body and the Spirit dominate the soul, and either defile the soul or make it holy. Being in the middle, the soul has these opposite forces acting upon it and depending on which force is the dominant one, the person will either be spiritual or carnal. If the spirit man, the higher being, the inner man is the dominant one, then it will change and renew the very mind of the person, and make it pure and holy. This in turn will make the body holy and a fit temple for The Lord.

    This is one of those WOW, in AWE of our Creators eternal purpose in creating man.

    The scripture that comes to to the forefront is this, 1 Corinthians 2:13-15

    13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

    14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

    15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
