Mystery #3: Time
“…ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?”-Matthew 16:3
Kairos is the ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment), it signifies a time in between, a moment of undetermined period of time in which something special happens.
The Bible is deliberately mysterious about time because GOD orchestrates it. It is a mystery—it can speed up—or slow down.
From the human perspective it is completely perceptual, from GOD’s it is elastic. In scripture, as in music, it is based on intervals—the spaces between tones and beats. We do not control it, but we DO participate. Kronos and chairos intertwine, they swirl, they dance, and eventually, they intersect into spectacular events.
