Shortened Days on Earth…Literally

“And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” -Matthew 24:22

time-shortThe December 26, 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami slammed into the Indian Ocean basin. The tsunami was triggered by a massive earthquake of a magnitude of about 9.2. The earthquake and tsunami killed an estimated 225,000 people from Indonesia to Somalia. That tsunami was detected clear across the globe and the Earth “rang like a bell” clear into March when a second earthquake in the same area washed out its ring.

The earth, itself, appears to be fulfilling the prophetic images given to us by Christ in ways that we do not yet fully grasp…the end goes on a long time…or maybe not.

From Space.com: “How the Japan Earthquake Shortened Days on Earth”

Mt 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

The massive earthquake that struck northeast Japan Friday (March 11) has shortened the length Earth’s day by a fraction and shifted how the planet’s mass is distributed.

A new analysis of the 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan has found that the intense temblor has accelerated Earth’s spin, shortening the length of the 24-hour day by 1.8 microseconds, according to geophysicist Richard Gross at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.

Gross refined his estimates of the Japan quake’s impact – which previously suggested a 1.6-microsecond shortening of the day – based on new data on how much the fault that triggered the earthquake slipped to redistribute the planet’s mass. A microsecond is a millionth of a second. [Photos: Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in Pictures]
